| Parents of the year nomination Wed, 14 May 2008 19:19:43 EDT Seriously, you can’t make up stuff like this: From an Associated Press story - “An immigrant family left a 23-month-old boy in the Vancouver airport and learned he was missing only when contacted during the next leg of the trip.” |

| Will someone please tell Arlen Specter to shut up! Thu, 15 May 2008 14:43:19 EDT Sen. Single Bullet Theory wants independent investigation into the NFL’s “spygate” controversy. As a taxpaying Pennsylvanian, I’d much rather my overpaid senior senator spend his time working on legislation that will lower the price at the pump, boost the economy or some other relevant issue. I love football as much ... |
| Out with a bang, not a whimper Fri, 16 May 2008 13:46:01 EDT I just knew the Flyers would come out fighting mad and win convincingly last night after I had literally written them off yesterday. Put simply: Pittsburgh is just too good and the Fly guys are way too beat up to compete. It ... |

Scoping out veepstakes dream teams
To unify Democrats, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois - should he secure the party's nomination - will have to offer U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York the vice presidency. And that combination, though improbable, would be the party's dream team. On the Republican side, the strongest running mate for U.S. Sen. John McCain of Arizona would be someone who lacks eligibility for the American presidency: California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. But there is no shortage of Republican dream-team alternatives. |

McCain's story, integrity not enough
Back in 2000, I boarded John McCain's campaign bus, the Straight Talk Express, and in a metaphorical sense, never got off. Housing 'crisis' a murky victimization narrative
Lewis Carroll, call your office. Or, better still, the author of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" should call Washington, where the government's determination to solve the housing "crisis" produced this lead paragraph in a recent New York Times story: "Federal agencies are intensifying a criminal investigation of the mortgage industry and focusing on whether some lenders turned a blind eye to inflated income figures provided by borrowers." |

| Vitamin D may help curb breast cancer, study finds Breast cancer patients with low levels of vitamin D were much more likely to die of the disease or have it spread than patients getting enough of the nutrient, a study found - adding to evidence the "sunshine vitamin" has anti-cancer benefits. The results are sure to renew arguments about whether a little more sunshine is a good thing. |
